What is a BTEC Higher National?

BTEC Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Diplomas (HNDs) are the higher education choice for students who want a more practical qualification. One that prepares them for their working life ahead.

BTEC qualifications are established and recognised, both in the UK and internationally. They are available at over 400 universities and colleges throughout England and Wales.

Choosing the right place to study

When it comes to choosing a course or university to study at, it can be a big decision to make. You and your friends might not all be thinking of going to the same one or you may even be thinking of living away from home for the first time.

Study Criminology

Crime is seen as one of the principal social problems of our time. Criminology is concerned with understanding crime and how it is dealt with. It draws on a number of disciplines such as social policy, sociology, psychology and law. Criminology investigates a range of theoretical and policy issues relating to the extent, nature and distribution of crime; explanations of crime; the control of crime, including crime prevention, policing, the operation of the criminal justice process and methods of punishment; and the nature and extent of crime victimisation and the role of victims in the criminal justice system.

Studying law is stimulating, intellectually demanding – and fun. Sometimes you’ll work in small groups; energetic participation is expected.

You’ll need to be highly motivated and self-disciplined to learn the law properly.
