Barclays BA (Hons) Business Management (Retail Banking)

Barclays and Nottingham Business School have developed a BA in Business Management with a special focus on retail banking.

The course is designed to develop students’ academic and business skills so you’re fully prepared for that very important first job.  Barclays offers full funding of university tuition fees and a guaranteed full-time position within the bank after graduating.

You work through a three year business degree and spend your first year studying full time at Nottingham Business School, gaining an understanding of business and the financial service sector.  Over the remaining two years of their course, you undertake four five-month placements in Barclays, gaining relevant banking experience, as follows:

Placement 1 – Induction to Barclays and developing an understanding of the customer through doing a customer-facing role.
Placement 2 – Developing your product knowledge and sales experience
Placement 3 – Developing management experience or building on your sales experience
Placement 4 – A challenging and stretching role developing you and preparing you for a permanent role post graduation.

You graduate after completing the fourth work placement, which has been designed to facilitate your integration within Barclays as graduates.

At Barclays we consider this programme to be a unique and innovative approach to recruiting high-calibre students to work in our branches and an excellent way for students to kick-start their careers.

If you have pin sharp customer focus, heaps of passion and self-motivation and a desire to develop yourself as a leader, we’d love to hear from you. The entry requirements are 320 UCAS points, alongside five GCSEs at Grade B or above, including English Language and Mathematics.  Apply for the Higher Education Certificate in Business and Management through the UCAS system (N200).  Selected students will then be invited to an assessment centre where they will have an interview, make a presentation and take part in a group exercise.  You’ll then be provided with more information about the course and will have a chance to tour the campus with current students and graduates.
